Tai Chi 8-week Introductory Course
(太極拳8星期新班)

What you’ll learn and what to expect

If you’d like to learn genuine, traditional Tai Chi, then this Introductory Course is for you.

Here’s what you’ll learn during this course:

  • You’ll learn the most important principles of Tai Chi. Without these principles, it is not genuine Tai Chi.
  • You’ll learn how Tai Chi works … how it is so different from all other forms of exercise … and why it’s so beneficial for people of all ages.
  • You’ll learn how to relax your body. You may discover some bad body postures, tensions or habits that you might have… but are not previously aware of.
  • You’ll learn a few relaxing and calming Tai Chi exercises. These exercises can also help improve your circulation and cultivate “chi”. (Some students feel the “chi” in their first lesson!)
  • You’ll learn how to exercise your waist. This is very important, as we don’t normally exercise the waist in our daily life.
  • Once you learn the basic postures, you’ll progress to learn “Grasping Sparrow’s Tail,” a very famous sequence in Tai Chi form. It comprises all of the 4 core techniques of Tai Chi.

By the end of the course, you should have a good understanding of what Tai Chi is … and whether this amazing art is for you.

Other important things you should know
before signing up for the course

  • Our Tai Chi follows the lineage of Grandmaster/Professor Cheng Man Ching (鄭曼青) … Grandmaster Huang Sheng-Shyan (黄性賢) … and Grandmaster/Professor Kit Po Wong (黄杰波).
  • The Tai Chi form we teach is based on Professor Cheng Man Ching’s Tai Chi 37-Postures form.
  • Our Academy has been teaching Tai Chi in Perth for over 38 years. Each of our instructors has been practicing Tai Chi for many years. And they are the disciples of Professor Kit Po Wong.
  • Thanks to the dedicated teaching of Professor Wong and his disciples, our Academy was awarded “Community Event Award” by the National Australia Day Council in 2001.
  • In our Academy, we emphasize on accuracy, and focus on quality over quantity. Instead of cramming many techniques into one lesson, we take it slowly. We make sure the students learn each technique properly, before we move on to the next.
  • Our Academy is a family-run school, not a commercial school. And we treat our members as part of our extended family.
  • It is critical that you respect your instructor and your fellow Tai Chi colleagues at all time.

Upcoming Course

We will be starting a new Tai Chi course on 20 February 2021.

The course will be held every Saturday 1.00pm – 2:15pm  from 20 February to 10 April 2021 at George Burnett Leisure Center, Manning Road, Karawara.

But you can trial it free for two weeks … with no obligation to continue afterwards.
